Avalon Airshow AIP Supplement Now Available
The biennial Australian International Airshow will be held at Avalon Airport, Victoria, during the period Wednesday 22 February to Tuesday 7 March 2017. The use of airspace, aerodrome and facilities vary from those published in AIP MAP and ERSA. Note that the airspace surrounding Avalon will become extremely congested and a high degree of airmanship and situational awareness will be required by pilots.

Pilots intending to fly into Avalon East (YAVE) for parking and non-display purposes should review AIP SUP H01/17:

Please note: if you are interested in displaying your aircraft next to the RAAus exhibition area at the airshow, please email ops@raa.asn.au with your name, membership number and your aircraft registration details. If planning to fly in to the airshow, you should start planning now; Avalon is controlled airspace and there are a number of special considerations and requirements for anyone wishing to fly in to the event:
FLYING IN TO AVALON
If you are an RAAus Pilot Certificate holder who also holds a current RPL, PPL or higher licence with controlled aerodromes/airspace or CTA access, all you need to do is ensure your RAAus aircraft meets the requirements for entry into controlled airspace and ensure you register with Airshows Down Under prior to flying your aircraft into Avalon for either display or transportation purposes. Information about how to register will be available in early 2017.
As the airshow is conducted within Class D and active restricted airspace, RAAus members who do not hold current RPL, PPL or higher licences with current controlled airspace and aerodrome requirements will be required to complete training with RAAus approved CFIs prior to operating an RAAus aircraft into Avalon.
If you are intending to fly in to Avalon for display with RAAus or for transportation purposes, please email ops@raa.asn.au with your membership number and registration number and we will put you into contact with an RAAus approved CFI who can deliver a briefing to ensure you comply with the exemption which will allow RAAus members to operate in the controlled airspace around Avalon.
